Our Roots

Our Roots

Our story began with a simple belief: that the mineral rich soil and the flow of our local spring water could birth a wine unlike anything else in the Pacific Northwest.

We are dedicating our entire vineyard exclusively to Chelois, a robust French-American hybrid known for its deep soul and complex, earthy character.

While the Chelois grape has French origins, it found its home here at Marteau Vignoble. The name—meaning Hammer Vineyard—reflects our approach to viticulture: we don't take shortcuts. We work the land with the same intensity and precision as a master craftsman, ensuring that every vine we plant becomes a permanent part of the Idaho landscape.

Today, we are proud to be 1 of only 8 vineyards in the United States growing and harvesting Chelois grapes. By focusing on this rare vine, we aren’t just making wine; we are reviving a piece of viticultural history right here in Idaho.

Organic & Generational

Slow Farming for a Lasting Taste

At our vineyard, we don’t measure success by the quarter; we measure it by the generation. We are a family-owned operation, and that means we treat our soil like the family heirloom it is.

We are strictly organic and always will be. Our vines are nourished by the same artesian spring water that has quenched this valley for centuries. We avoid harsh chemicals and industrial shortcuts, opting instead for hands-on care and a deep respect for Idaho’s natural ecosystem.

When you become a member of our vineyard, you aren't just buying a subscription. You are joining a family tradition. You are investing in a living, breathing legacy that will continue to produce, provide, and pour for years to come. This is slow farming at its finest—cultivated with patience, watered by nature, and destined for your table.
